KIDS’ HIGH SECURITY LOOPHOLE

DAILY STAR SUNDAY
ABOVE: The Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge has been targeted by urban explorers
14th March 2010

By Rick Lyons

TEEN trespassers have exposed security loopholes at some of Britain’s most famous buildings.

Gangs of kids are gaining access to landmark buildings with ease before taking photos to post on the internet.

Their targets have included huge skyscrapers in the City of London – Britain’s financial heartland – and the Manchester Evening News Arena, which hosts 23,000-capacity concerts by big names like Lily Allen.

Black-clad followers describe themselves as “urban explorers” dedicated to invading off-limits sites.

Their motto is “Take only photos, leave only footprints”.

But the craze has revealed the lax security protecting our nation from terrorist bombers. Urban explorer Simon Cornwell told the Daily Star Sunday: “Urban explorers won’t damage anything to gain access.

“But the fact they have got in without breaking anything means other people could. There are gaping holes in the security.”

Urban exploration, known as Urbex, is estimated to have thousands of followers in the UK.

Favourite targets include former prisons, mental asylums and military bases.

Other explorers, the so-called Craniacs, are hooked on scaling huge tower cranes.

Another group, drainers, explore sewers and other underground structures.

Re: Kidschr(25) high security loophole

"gangs of kids" I'm 24, a full time professional photographer and this is what I do, and then afterward sell the images...
Next time ask permission to use artists shots... It's a joke!
Not sure what prisons you are referring to...?

'Teen Explorers' 'Gangs of kids' - thanks that's made my day (not)

Why presume we are all teenagers?

Personally I am nearer 50 than 40!
